Male Hair Loss Could be a Thing of the Past…

Male hair loss has two major effects – reduced hair and a deflated confidence. In fact, some 62 percent of balding guys in a Spanish study said losing their locks could deflate their self-esteem. Guys, it seems as human beings we are genetically wired to associate the health of our hair with youth and masculinity. And it’s an unfortunate truth that hair loss is a globally recognized signal of aging. But that doesn’t mean you need to accept your male hair loss as a permanent problem. There is hope.

BHRC Uses Neograft Hair Restoration

At the Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center, we use the Neograft hair restoration technology in our clinics to effectively treat male hair loss. Neograft is the first FDA approved automated device used for hair transplants in men and women, and considered the most advanced and minimally invasive hair restoration method available. The device extracts individual hair follicles individually, which are then transplanted by hand to provide natural-looking results.

  • Least invasive procedure for hair transplantation.
  • No stitches or staples.
  • No unsightly linear scar.
  • No numbness where the donor hair is harvested.

What Causes Male Hair Loss?

Male hair loss is caused by an imbalance in hormone levels and an inherited sensitivity to dihydrotestosterone, or DHT – a byproduct of testosterone – which causes your hair to become finer, your hairline to recede, and eventually, a balding scalp.

And with two-thirds of men facing hair loss by age 35, it’s a problem which needs an effective solution.

Balding can be the result of a number of factors, the most common being hereditary or environmental factors. But you may not have realized that thinning can often be caused by an underlying health issue like hormonal or nutritional deficiencies, such as thyroid problems, low iron, or low protein, can cause shedding, so don’t just assume your hair loss is genetic.

If you’re suffering from male hair loss, or beginning to notice some thinning on your scalp, then make sure you contact us and see one of our hair restoration professionals as soon as you can to have a scalp biopsy.

Care For Your Body, and Your Hair Too

If you’re not yet suffering from male hair loss, but are feeling a little concerned it may be on the horizon, then cleaning up your diet is a great way to start your hair loss prevention regimen. It turns out the foods you eat play a key role in the health of your hair, so your first point of call is to skip fried foods as much as possible. Doing so may reduce your oil-gland activity, and effectively slow your body from switching to DHT production versus testosterone production.

The next step is to avoid sugary foods, since the excess insulin created by your liver when you consume a lot of sugar can trigger the release of testosterone and make it available for conversion to DHT.

If you’re looking to transform your body, and revive your youthful vitality, then Dr. Angie, our resident weight loss professional, can customize a weight loss program to suit your individual needs, and it may even help prevent hair loss in future!

Be Wary of “Quick Fixes” for Male Hair Loss

Male hair loss is a common occurrence. So much so, that you’ll find an assortment of infomercials or Internet ads touting hair-growing shampoos or “magic pills”. Be wary though, as most of these haven’t been clinically studied and can turn out to be a disappointment. And even medicines approved by the FDA, such as finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine), have considerable side effects.

  • Propecia: blocks the conversion of testosterone to DHT, but it could disrupt nerve-signaling pathways to your penis, potentially leading to erectile dysfunction and lowered libido, a study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found.
  • Rogaine: Advertised to stimulate hair growth, although scientists aren’t actually sure how.

In any case, treatments like these are better at maintaining the hair you still have rather than regrowing what you’ve lost, which is why the Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center offers the state-of-the-art Neograft technology, which uses Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).

More About The Neograft Procedure

NeoGraft is the first FDA cleared follicular unit harvesting and implantation system. The NeoGraft system delivers automation of the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)  technique, the most advanced technique in the hair transplant industry. Using pneumatic controls to precisely extract complete individual hair follicles which can be immediately transplanted to the selected areas of the scalp, the NeoGraft automated hair transplantation system can produce precision results for those suffering from hair loss.

The targeted removal of individual hair follicles is known as “Follicular Unit Extraction” or FUE, is a minimally-invasive microsurgical procedure that has the following main steps:

  • Donor Hair Removal: The NeoGraft procedure begins with hair being removed from the donor area in the back of your head where your hair is genetically programmed to resist testosterone.
  • Dissection of the Follicular Units: Each graft is extracted with the same consistency in diameter and length resulting in a dramatically increased take rate.
  • Creation of the Recipient Sites: Our professional hair transplant surgeon creates recipient sites in the proper angle, direction and orientation according to the artistic hair transplant plan designed specifically for you.
  • Placement of the Hair Graft: The follicular units are then carefully separated by size. Grafts are transplanted into the balding and thinning areas of your scalp. Each graft is meticulously harvested as it naturally occurs and implanted individually to ensure the best results.

What makes the NeoGraft system so uniques, is that it uses a fully-automated technology that is able to quickly remove the hair follicles from the donor area and implant them to balding areas, effectively treating male hair loss quickly, and safely. NeoGraft uses a controlled pneumatic pressure to slide out the graft smoothly, so there is no pulling or twisting which can risk damaging the graft. Because the NeoGraft transplant is faster than other out of date methods, the grafts can be re-implanted sooner which keeps them more robust, increasing the success of the grafting process.
