That’s where bio-identical hormones come in.
In general, there are two types of hormones available for use in HRT: synthetic, and bio-identical hormones.
Synthetic: manufactured from both man-made and animal sources. For example, synthetic estrogen is often manufactured from the urine of a pregnant horse. We believe that synthetic products are foreign to the body, and should not be used as part of a balanced hormone optimization strategy.
Bio-identical: manufactured in a facility from plant-based materials, and are prescribed precisely to meet your individual needs. Bio-identical hormones mimic the composition of real human hormones, unlike other hormones that were intended for animals.
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is a safer, more effective means of treatment, and can be customized to suit your needs.
Traditional vs. Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Unfortunately, hormone replacement therapy received bad reputation back in 1991, when the results of a long-term study on the safety and efficacy of hormone therapy, known as the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI), were published, highlighting concerns for the use of traditional hormone therapy on postmenopausal women.
We’re happy to say that a lot has changed since then, and HRT has taken a huge leap in technology towards a new era of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, or BHRT.
But what’s the difference?
Well, traditional or non-bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, is not designed to mimic the natural structure of human endogenous hormones. Instead, these hormones bind tightly to the specified cell receptors and initiate prolonged stimulation, which inhibits the natural metabolic process designed for hormone metabolism. The result is that these introduced hormones as part of the HRT procedure, are unable to be filtered and removed from your system – a necessary component of hormone replacement therapy. Added to this, is the fact that traditional hormones may be patented by pharmaceutical companies, and so are not customized to suit your specific profile and needs.
The difference with bio-identical HRT, is that hormones are prescribed precisely to meet your individual needs, and they are able to effectively mimic the affinity human endogenous hormones have – performing effectively within each biological element of the human body, at all levels. A feat traditional HRT has been unable to effectively reproduce.
BHRT Offers Effective Relief from The Symptoms of Menopause
Bio-Identical hormone replacement therapy is a safe and effective means for women to find relief from symptoms of menopause and heal your adrenals. The Beverly Hills Rejuvenation Center is able to offer a combination of BHRT therapies that can be customized to suit your needs. BHRC doctors specializing in bioidentical hormones will assess your needs through detailed lab testing to determine which key hormones may need to be addressed, and could include:
Estrogen – Causing diminished sex drive, difficulty reaching orgasm, and a reduction in collagen – leading to thinner, drier and wrinkled skin.
Progesterone – Impacting memory and cognitive ability, the formation of new bone.
Testosterone – Healthy sex drive, building and sustaining lean muscle mass and managing mood swings in both men and women.
So if you’re aged 35+, and you experience any of the symptoms listed above, then perhaps it’s time for you to book a consultation with our doctors specializing in bioidentical hormones, and see how our bio-identical hormone replacement therapy can repair the hormone imbalance in that you may be experiencing.
BHRT & Disease Prevention
Recent studies have found that bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can play a significant role in reducing your likelihood of many common diseases.
Reduced Heart Disease: In March 2011, the medical journal, Menopause, published the findings of The California Teachers’ Study (CTS), a long-term analysis surveying HRT in women. Results show that women aged 34 to 59 experienced a decreased risk of heart disease with the use of hormone therapy, while women aged 70 to 84 saw no increase in heart disease risk.
Breast Cancer: In 2005, the International Journal of Cancer published results indicating that women experienced a decreased risk of breast cancer when using estrogen-only hormone replacement therapy, regardless of type – traditional or bioidentical.

More About Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormones function as your body’s chemical messengers, playing an integral part in how each of our bodies work, ensuring that our bodies operate “according to plan.” Created by your endocrine glands, hormones travel through the bloodstream to signal your organs and tissues to how to function properly.
Hormone replacement therapy – also known as HRT, menopausal hormone therapy, and estrogen replacement therapy – uses naturally occurring bio-identical hormones including testosterone, estrogen progesterone, and others, to treat common symptoms of hormonal imbalance including uncontrolled weight gain, menopause and aging.
Approximately after the age of 25, both men and women experience a decline in hormone production, causing a range of symptoms like hot flashes and vaginal dryness, low libido, sexual dysfunction, and can sometimes lead to conditions like osteoporosis, heart disease, and dementia. To combat these, HRT replenishes the hormones that your body no longer makes in sufficient amounts, restoring hormonal balance to your body and allowing you to experience an extraordinary quality of life again.
