Healthy Habits - September Newsletter 2024

September brings all the trappings of Fall that Pumpkin Spice Latte fans wait for all year – warm scarves and hot coffee, leaves changing colors, and for many, getting settling into a new school year.

While some of us may take this opportunity to settle into back-to-school routines after summer, the flood of Fall activities can also undermine our healthy habits; between carpool schedules, after-school activities, and holiday prep, it’s easy to let our own self-care take a back seat to the deluge of priorities thrown our way each day. Before you know it, you’re looking at the 2025 calendar with a list of resolutions to get back on track.

So what’s the antidote to the Fall Flood that hits us all this time of year? Automate your healthy habits and get back to your best self this season:

  1. Plan Ahead: Building a routine takes some focused attention in the short-term, but once your routine is established, you can set your healthy habits to auto-pilot. Do kids’ activities take up the afternoon? Set your alarm for a morning workout. Find yourself grabbing fast food between meetings? Turn Sundays into a meal prep day for grab-and-go healthy options all week long. Take the time to calendar your weekly routine so that your personal priorities stay on the agenda.
  1. Use the Buddy System: Instead of heading to Happy Hour after work or spending a free Sunday at home, turn your healthy habits into a social experience. Planning for an evening walk with a friend or preparing food as a family each week will keep you healthy, build accountability, and strengthen social bonds. A mental and physical health win!
  1. Pre-Book Your Self Care: How often do you find yourself wondering when your last hair appointment was (usually while glaring at your split ends)? Take one more item off of you to-do list by pre-booking your me-time at the end of each appointment. You’re much more likely to keep an appointment that is already booked, and before you know it, you’ll never go more than 4 months without your Botox again!
  1. Add New Tools to Your Toolkit: New products and services to keep us on track with our goals seem to pop up every day. Weight loss medications like Semaglutide and Tirzepatide can not only help you lose weight, but also reset healthy habits – you’ll be replacing your evening cocktail with a healthy smoothie without even thinking! Supplement bundles can help with everything from nutrition, to natural collagen building, to increased energy without the need to track macros. Not sure where to start? Schedule a consultation with our team and press the Easy Button on your personal goals!
  1. Get an “app for that”. Apps like Nutritionix www.nutritionix.com or My fitness pal www.myfitnesspal.com are very useful tools for tracking on the go to make sure you are getting all the healthy calories (and not too many!) to stay energized and on track to your goals.
